We had a power surge, now our Hand Punch isn't working

Hand Punch Service: We had a power surge, now some of our employees hands can't be read.

It sounds like the power outage scrambled the program.  Normally just the employee data is damaged.  To avoid this in the future, I would recommend that you add a 300 to 450 size upc external battery power supply, using the surge protected and battery protected outlet.  Some companies attach them to the wall, we have seen others just set them on the floor under the reader.  Not pretty, but military grade effective at protecting the machine.

We (you) will need to perform a Master Reset.  It's best to have two people do this, takes about 5 minutes.

To do this:  Using the barrel key we mentioned, release the machine from the wall.  It is hinged at the bottom, it can slide .75" to the right and drop... One person makes sure it doesn't fall to the floor.  Keep it on the hinge.

On the back of the machine, looking down to the lower left is the power supply connector (the power tap).  Under the ribbon cable in the center is a small white button.

(1) With the second person holding the machine, using your right hand, press and hold the white button.

(2) Left hand pulls off, then immediately reconnects the power tap.

(3) Release the white button.

You will hear two beeps.  This happens quickly.

(4) Tip the machine back to the wall, you should have two options, Reset 1 and Reset 9 - ALL.

(5) Press the 9 button.  You have about 5 seconds before it goes back to the original screen and you have to start over.
It will say "COLD BOOT" on the display.  Perfect.

Lock it back to the wall.

Now you can set your ID length, install your supervisors, and set up your employees.  If it still misbehaves, then it needs to come in to us for fast service.
