Lathem Time Clock Motor (Mechanical Punch Clocks)

A dependable replacement motor for classic Lathem metal-cased time recorders, backed by a two-year replacement guarantee.

Description

This page answers a common buyer question: what motor fixes a Lathem mechanical punch clock that stops, drifts, or runs rough? This Lathem Time Clock Motor is a direct-fit replacement for many legacy, metal-case Lathem mechanical time recorders. It is commonly used to restore smooth, consistent operation in clocks that have begun to stall, lose time under load, or emit a buzzing or grinding sound.

Facilities continue to rely on these heavy-duty metal-case machines because of their durability and simple mechanics. Replacing a worn motor is often the most effective way to extend the service life of a proven clock without replacing the entire unit.

Employee Time Clocks has supported mechanical punch clocks for decades, supplying correct repair parts that keep legacy equipment running accurately in shops, plants, schools, and maintenance departments.

Lathem Time Clock Motor (Mechanical Punch Clocks)

A dependable replacement motor for many classic Lathem metal-cased time recorders—supported with install guidance and a two-year replacement guarantee.

Why this one?

Lathem's encapsulated coils are covered with DuPont's ZYTEL 70G33L resin, a glass reinforced nylon. By using encapsulated coil motors, the Lathem time recorders have a superior resistance to moisture (15% greater dielectric strength*) and power surges. The encapsulation process also produces stronger lead wires which reduces the chances that the wires will pull out of the motor (double the pull-out strength*). The compact Lathem motors are permanently lubricated and require no maintenance during their lifetime. * Compared to standard tape wrapped coils.

This Lathem Motor fits these machines - and any similar looking Lathem clock.

Look at yours.  If it looks even remotely similar, it will fit.

When replacing the motor, you should also replace the clutch spring.
The clutch spring is press-mounted to the center shaft (not welded, that would never fail).
This bond breaks. As it slips under pressure on the shaft, the clock loses time.
